OUR HISTORY

The San Fernando Valley Counseling Center was established in 1971. The Center is a self supporting, nonprofit agency, which provides low-fee, psychological counseling to the community, on a sliding scale basis. We also provide outreach services to the community, as well as referral sources. Licensed professionals from the mental health field donate their time to train, supervise, and provide continuing education to our volunteer counselors.

We are currently serving clients for fees as low as $20.00 per session. We provide long and short term, one-on-one, weekly counseling for over 150 clients.

We also provide 14 weeks of credit-hour training and supervision for Masters’ level students and non-students for fees ranging from $30 to $65 a month. On completion of training, students see clients at the Center on an ongoing basis.

MISSION STATEMENT

We believe in the benefits of counseling to a person’s growth & development. Through the dedicated commitment of well-trained, supervised volunteer counselors, we provide access to quality, affordable mental health counseling for individuals, couples and families who may be uninsured or have financial limitations.

Donations to the San Fernando Valley Counseling Center by individuals and organizations offer the opportunity to support us in our mission. We are a 501(c)3, non-profit corporation, and all contributions to the Center are tax deductible.
