How We Help

San Fernando Valley Counseling Center (SFVCC) serves anyone who can benefit from low-cost mental and  behavioral health counseling. Our counseling model and sliding scale fee structure makes quality counseling services available to low-income individuals and families who face significant barriers in accessing mental health care. Our counselors address a wide range of  mental and behavioral health issues including stress disorders, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, suicidal ideation, and substance abuse.

Through the dedicated commitment of highly-trained and supervised trainees, associates, and volunteer counselors, we provide access to quality, affordable counseling.

We treat individuals, couples, children/adolescents, and families, and offer crisis counseling and referrals to other community support programs.

Our counselors reach approximately 200-300 clients each year and consist of the following counseling services:

  • Children/ Adolescents 

  • Couples/ Family

  • Crisis 

  • Groups

  • Referrals - we provide a referral service for the community to other agencies, clinics, specialized services and supportive community resources

Individual Counseling

SFVCC offers a wide range of individual therapy services tailored to address various emotional and psychological challenges. Our dedicated team of therapists specializes in helping individuals cope with and overcome a wide variety of conditions such as anger management, anxiety, codependency, depression, and many more. We also provide support for individuals navigating work-related stress and career issues. Our goal is to empower you to live a happier, healthier life by offering compassionate and evidence-based therapy that meets your unique needs.

Couples & Family Counseling

At San Fernando Valley Counseling Center, our couples and family therapy services are dedicated to helping families overcome a variety of complex challenges. Our skilled counselors are trained in addressing conditions such as affairs, communication problems, divorce, conflict resolution, coping skills, stress management, depression, grief and loss, feelings of helplessness and hopelessness, irritability, and family conflict. We offer a supportive and collaborative environment where couples and families can work together to improve communication, build stronger relationships, and develop effective coping strategies to navigate these difficulties. Our goal is to help your family thrive and find greater harmony in your lives.

Counseling for children and adolescents

Child/ Adolescent Counseling

Our counselors are trained to address a range of issues that children and adolescents are facing in today’s world. We provide a safe supportive space for young people to work through issues of Abuse, Sadness or Anger, School Concerns, Divorce, Separation & Child Custody/ Adjustment, Risky Behaviors, and Peer Relation Problems. Our aim is to guide children and their families toward healthier and happier relationships, promoting resilience and healing. In working with children and adolescents we see parents and families as an important part of the process and build in time for both individual work with the young client and conjoint sessions with parents.

Crisis counseling

At San Fernando Valley Counseling Center, we offer crisis therapy to provide immediate support and intervention during times of acute emotional distress or urgent situations. Our crisis counseling services are tailored to address a wide range of crises, including but not limited to situations involving trauma, severe anxiety or panic attacks, severe depression, grief and loss, and other urgent mental health concerns. Our skilled therapists are available to help individuals navigate these crises, offering compassionate and timely support to promote emotional stability and safety during difficult times.

Group counseling for individuals who need assistance managing a variety of challenges.

Group Counseling

We are currently working to offer groups to help folks manage a variety of challenges. We have found that groups can be incredibly effective and for many, are less cost prohibitive. We invite you to reach out to us if you’re interested in joining one of our groups!
